Die Casting Unit Die Tooling
Unit die tooling is usually larger than die cast tooling inserts and typically smaller than a complete mold. Unit die tooling uses less steel than a complete mold,
but more steel than a die casting insert. Unit die tooling requires a master unit holder that sits in the die casting machine. Castings Aluminum has "master unit
holders" in various sizes to accommodate different sized unit dies. Castings Aluminum also uses Unit Die casting on some of our customers. Unit Die Casting Tooling is
one of many forms of tooling that we use to manufacture parts for our customers.
Unit Dies are smaller and lighter then complete molds, but are larger than a tooling insert. This is just the right size for fast pace production.
Unit dies will be set into a die casting machine faster and more easily than any other form of tooling. Allowing customer production cost to be minimal. Die casting
part size and weight are the biggest limitations to whether a unit die tool is appropriate for your die cast part. The larger the part the less likely Unit Die casting
will work. Some other methods of tooling may work for larger parts. Read more information at our tooling page and read the articles there on the different types of
tooling.
If you have unit die tooling, send it to us because we can produce aluminum die cast parts with your unit die tooling. Castings Aluminum has master holders in many
sizes.
